Today, the Montsec is one of the best areas in Europe for free flying, thanks to its thermal currents and majestic cliffs.

The Àger Valley and the Cogulló and Sant Alís peaks in Vilanova de Meià are a good area for lovers of free flight such as hang-gliding and paragliding. This is an exceptional area for Free Flying, with 20 years of tradition in the sport and where national and international championships have been organised, most notably the World Hang-Gliding Championship of 1995, giving the area international exposure which has attracted flyers from all around the world.
